About. Neil James
Some voices are shaped by stadiums and spotlight.
Mine was shaped by a small town in Manitoba and
a family that sang together just because it felt right.
Growing up in Grunthal, music was never something
I had to search for, it was already in the room.
Family gatherings meant singing, and somewhere
in those moments I discovered that a song could
carry something words alone never could.
When I wrote My Little Brown Eyed Girl and sang it
for the first time at my daughter's wedding, I saw
not just my daughter crying but many others deeply
moved. That was a very powerful moment that
showed me how music has the ability to deeply
impact others.
I've been writing for over a decade now, and what
started as a personal expression has grown into a
calling. My faith in God is the foundation of
everything I create. Whether I'm writing about faith,
family, the struggles of real life, or a story that
needs to be told, my goal is always the same: to
write something that makes you feel less alone.
With over 30 songs and growing, I'm just getting
started. If one of these songs meets you where you
are, then it's done exactly what it was meant to do.
Welcome to my music. I'm glad you're here.
